Custom Engineering

Machinery for the Crafstman

The Value

Custom engineering is a mutual benefit. For the converter, machinery is built around your model — not the other way around. Our benefit? Getting to do what we're passionate about.

The Standard

Standardized OEM machinery serves the manufacturer: simple, repeatable processes, profit from parts and consumables, and a forced reorder once they declare a model obsolete.

Beyond Standards

Berkeley custom machinery puts the converter first — a machine built around your business and your applications. We don't profit from failing parts; we profit from earning all of your projects.

Custom Machinery

The only custom converting with global support

  • The core difference in our custom approach is application focus. Your goal is your choice — production efficiency, cost consciousness, automation, or a combination — we're masters at achieving it.

Berkeley Engineering and The Converting Group's capital equipment advising pair perfectly to ensure that whatever your objective, the project is thoughtfully assessed, clients are well-educated on their options, and objectives are clearly defined.

  • For Berkeley's custom machinery, we leverage relationships with machinery manufacturers around the globe. While we have our own manufacturing capabilities — seen in our modular lineup — some projects call for outsourced frames, parts, motors, or drives.

This gives us the agility to deliver advanced systems quickly, at a feasible price, without sacrificing support.

All working mechanisms are still designed in-house, and clients stay fully informed on the sourcing strategy.

  • Once the objectives of the project have been met and the right sourcing strategy is in place; we then program the machinery to achieve what you is needed to accomplish the goals of the project.

This is a combination of creative engineering minds, top cad design technology; and the tenacity of our internal operations to assure the pieces of the puzzle fit.

  • While the math does not lie; we have strict parameters for testing equipment prior to shipment to secure that we are providing a custom application we know works.

No system is installed at a client's plant without being a proven system. This often means a stop at one of our testing facilities (at our own cost) for outsourced builds. This is a service we call peace of mind.

  • All installations will be done by a certified Berkeley Machinery technician with an engineer on site.

These same professionals are the ones responsible for the technical workings of the machinery at hand, giving them comprehensive knowledge to train the end users.

We will not deem an installation project complete until comprehensive testing and applications have been ran on the machinery.

  • Especially on the custom side; we view our clients as partners. Our reputation is as good as the last machine built; so we stay in close contact with your plant and key people to assure our machinery is hitting all of the initial goals set out.

In the rare case of an issue with our machinery; we have a staff readily available for troubleshooting, service calls, and a tight supply chain on replacement parts and consumables.
